Creating Memories: How to Celebrate Your Birthday with Family and Style

How do you celebrate your birthday?

For me, birthdays are about family, love, and creating memories.

I feel blessed to share my birthday with my oldest son. When he was a little boy, our birthdays centered around him. Now that he’s older and a father, we celebrate together.  

This year, my kids and grandkids came over for a family dinner  -  delicious chicken and rice, salad and corn on the cob. As a special treat in honor of our birthdays, the girls were allowed to have 2 French pastries for dessert (one for their dad and one for me).  

Birthdays don’t have to be grand parties - they just need to be shared with the people you love.  I delighted in playing with my grandchildren and their favorite toys in my cozy living room. Sitting together around the dinner table, with my children and the girls in their highchairs, warmed my heart and was everything I needed.

With my son, daughter and family living in Canada, I've come to appreciate the simple joys of these gatherings even more. My grandchildren's laughter creates memories that I cherish. The aroma of home-cooked meals and the sweetness of shared desserts make these intimate moments the perfect birthday.

Having a comfortable, elegant home where you can celebrate your love and connection with those closest to you makes the birthday even more special. 

Enjoy a birthday shopping spree

A birthday can also be the perfect excuse for a special adventure—like a shopping spree!

I recently had the pleasure of helping my client uniquely celebrate her birthday with a shopping spree for her home renovation project.

We enjoyed the day by visiting suppliers in Jerusalem to select everything from mattresses and headboards to wallpaper and curtains. 

To streamline the shopping process, I had already designed detailed plans for each space, including precise measurements for the den, master bedroom, and dual-purpose playroom/guest room. I had a detailed list of all the furnishings we needed including quantities and measurements.  This upfront work saved my clients time and energy. This way,  they could focus on the enjoyable part of the experience—"sit testing" various mattresses to find the perfect balance of firmness and comfort for their new rooms. 

Preparation turns what could have been an overwhelming task into a fun and efficient outing.

We also chose a color palette of vibrant colors - A rust color for the couch and a rust-and-off-white patterned armchair. The master bedroom headboard combines blues, greens, turquoise, and gray, so the curtains and bed base will complement the bold scheme with softer, solid colors.  My clients are excited and can hardly wait to transform their living spaces to reflect their lifestyle and personality.

Their playroom design is also fun, adventurous, and innovative. It features monkey bars, climbing walls, and a wall-mounted spinning wheel. The kids will be thrilled to discover this exciting new playroom. And by adding a sofabed, the room can easily become a comfortable guest bedroom. 

When my client remembers this birthday, she’ll cherish more than just the shopping. She’ll recall creating a joyful family home to fill with happy occasions.
